Dragon's Blood 1.5%: strengthens the skin's barrier functions, combats inflammageing and promotes cellular detoxification

FOCUS ON - DRAGOON’S BLOOD: "dragon’s blood" is a precious bright red resin obtained by carving the trunk and the branches of the Croton Lechleri tree. This tree is native to Latin America, where the pre-Columbian civilizations made extensive topical use of the resin to promote the healing of wounds, ulcers and to stop their bleeding, reduce inflammation, hydrate and maintain the beauty and health of the skin. Its considerable beneficial properties are linked to the high quantity of taspine – a substance with healing and regenerating properties of the connective tissue that can draw fibroblasts towards the damaged skin tissues and stimulate the production of new elastic and collagen fibres (type I, III, IV collagen) – and proantocianidine – that are substances that can also promote healing and with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Thanks to these elements, dragon’s blood has proved to be effective to:

?combat the harmful effect of pollutants and to promote cell detoxification, because it increases skin production of glutathione peroxidase and other endogenous defence systems.

?combat the effects of free radicals of oxygen and nitrogen and the subsequent damages (in vivo studies have proved its powerful antioxidant properties that are much more effective than vitamin C and E) and to slow down ageing processes.

?strengthen the barrier functions (promotes the formation of "tight junctions") and modulate the response of the immune system, combating inflammaging (micro-inflammatory process – not perceptible but continuous – that compromises the barrier function of the skin and causes a constant formation of free radicals, speeding up the skin ageing processes).

?maintain the optimal level of hydration of the skin because it boosts the production of Aquaporine3 (AQP3).

Dragon’s blood used in SKIN CODE’s products is obtained respecting and protecting regional biodiversity and the principles of fair trade.
